Overview

Dementia is not a specific disease but rather a general term for the impaired ability to remember, think, or make decisions, which can interfere with everyday activities. Based on research, depression is one of the most common issues affecting dementia families. As a member of this community, I am creating a mobile health application to offer support. The app aims to build a caring community for caregivers, allowing them to connect, find personal time, and freely seek answers to their questions.

The process

My process for this project is based on the Double Diamond Theory and the Lean UX process. I aim to incorporate the key phases of Discovery, Definition, Ideation, and Implementation in all of my projects.

Understanding the problem

I conducted research interviews with our primary users to uncover any pain points that they were experiencing.

Problem Statement

Caregivers of individuals with dementia face significant emotional, social, and time constraints while providing care, often leading to isolation and increased risk of depression. Existing research highlights the pressing need for an application that not only helps dementia caregivers process their experiences but also facilitates meaningful connections between caregivers, enabling them to share experiences, advice, and support. To address this issue, our app aims to empower caregivers to create and manage their free time effectively, encouraging their participation in diverse events and activities that foster well-being, reduce stress, and mitigate the risk of depression.
